American black walnut.
Signed ‘George Nakashima’, Oct 1983.
Introduced in 1961, the Conoid line was inspired by the curved vault and outward-facing, lyrical space of Nakashima’s Conoid Studio. These Conoid lounge chairs – which were first designed in 1976 for Japanese architect Yutaka Saito – are wider, lower and much more difficult to find than the more common Conoid dining chair or Conoid cushion chair.
Made for Full Circle gallery.
Measurements: 22” width, 24” depth, 33” height, 13.75” seat height
