Giò Ponti probably needs no introduction: he’s been arguably the most influential personality in Italian design and architecture for almost three decades, from the Fifties throughout the Seventies. In his long career, he’s been able to leave an unforgettable mark on furniture, tableware, architecture and interior decoration.
Amongst his most famous works, stands the 646 Chair designed for Cassina, and aptly name “Leggera”, italian for Lightweight, given its modest weight. However, the Leggera remains more sturdy and a little heavier than its more famous sibling, the 699 “Superleggera”, which is so light you’re almost worried to sit on.
We are glad to offer these stunning and complete set of fourteen original chairs, produced and originally delivered in the seventies and preserved in their original blue leather upholstery. Sourcing such a big set is no easy task at all: having this number of chairs, all of the same age and kept in the same place for their entire life, means having the rare possibility to own a wide set of vintage, patinated chairs, all in matching shades of wood and upholstery.
