Good general condition: patina of time, small losses and wear, small lifting of veneer
This showcase is attributed to the French artist Gabriel Viardot (1830-1904): a Parisian cabinetmaker, he specialized in the creation of furniture inspired by Japanese/Chinese taste, which he discovered during the 1967 Universal Exhibition.
He imported decorative lacquer or relief panels from Asia, decorated with mother-of-pearl for example, and assembled them in his furniture to which he added bronze ornamentation.
The Japonisme style has been a real success since the 19th century
