Designed by master craftsman George Nakashima for Knoll in 1946, the N19 chair was intended as a mass-produced counterpoint to the Nakashima Studio’s popular “Straight Chair.” The design was discontinued by Knoll in 1954. Echoing Classic Shaker furniture and the spindle back of the Windsor chair, the N19 has a walnut frame with a smooth, curved band for a backrest supported by tapered dowels. The ergonomically sculpted seat is made of solid walnut and sits on four angled legs.
