Golden Limited Edition Elda Chair by Joe Colombo for Longhi Italy no. 7/20

Colombo was able to draw a chair that has become so remarkable over the course of many decades, that even a novice design enthousiast will likely be able to distinguish and identify the Elda based on its unique shapes and features.

The accentuations and curvatures in the shell, the form and composition of the cushions, the fluidity in the overall design, the materials, the colours. It all contributes to a unique result. Moreover, what further contributes to the perfection of this design is the perfect width, depth and height ratio of 1:1. All sides measures 92 cm.

Not only was Colombo able to draw a unique looking chair, he also incorporated practical functionality and comfort in the design by means of a full swivel mechanism and gracefully rich upholstery. The shell certainly provides for a comfortable and somewhat secluded seating position.

This Elda carries a slight hint to James Bond. The iconic Goldfinger novel was released by Ian Fleming in 1963. Coincidental the same year when the Elda was conceived by Joe Colombo. The Elda has featured in at least one James Bond movie afterwards (The spy who loved me, 1977)

This chair is NEW and comes with all original certificates and is fully handmade by Longhi in Italy according to the tradition dating from the 60s and only by use of Italian sourced materials.
