Italian Milking Tripod Stool by Charlotte Perriand

A stool that can also be used as a low table in various rooms of the house, in the living room to sit on or to rest your cup of coffee, in an entrance or in the bathroom to rest towels or clothes. An item almost certainly made in Italy not for decorative purposes but to be functional and resistant in country or mountain life. Purchased in the Abruzzo region in a lot with other items, we are not sure if this stool was used in the past as a Milking Stool given its good state of conservation and its slightly higher than usual height; what is certain is its charm as a handcrafted work object. The structure is made entirely of solid fir wood of strong thickness; the seat incorporates the three legs characterized by an almost primitive workmanship interlocking in the top. The style of this vintage stool recalls the iconic Tabouret Méribel designed by designer Charlotte Perriand inspired by the stools used by French shepherds. Simple materials and basic shapes, with an eye to architecture and mountain life and which gives an accent of style to today’s interior furnishings. This item is in really good vintage condition, we don’t know if in the past, before we took possession of it, it had undergone a restoration but we limited ourselves to carrying out a deep cleaning and protecting the surface with a natural wax.
