Captain chair from American midcentury craftsman George Nakashima. The black walnut chair has a curved, peaked backrest atop carved spindles, inspired by the Windsor chair and Shaker pieces. The seat is hand-sculpted for comfort and sits on four tapered dowel legs, joined to the chair at a distinctively steep angle. The backrest has distinctive tenon joints.
